Barça Ready for First Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in domestic competition 30 months since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said finished work included a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. Officials stated approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
